Welcome to the website of St Mary’s Catholic Voluntary Academy!
We hope that everything contained on our school website will tell you all you need to know about our happy and successful school.
We have an enthusiastic, highly motivated staff committed to a caring, child-centred ethos. We offer skilled teaching, an exciting knowledge based curriculum and high academic standards, as well as concentrating on the education of the whole child. We cater for each child’s needs within a Christian family context of firm, yet sensitive guidance. We know that EVERY child can achieve, and through good teaching and learning and the partnerships we build with parents and the wider community, our children leave school as confident, able learners equipped with the skills and knowledge to continue their lifelong learning journey.
Education is a partnership between home and school and we place a great deal of emphasis on our partnership with parents/carers. We believe that children learn best when home and school work together for their benefit. When your child starts school, that is not where your job ends and ours begins. It is where our job begins and yours continues!
As part of the St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust, we belong to a family of schools working in partnership to support the faith, academic and social development of all our pupils.
From Nursery Class to Year Six, all our children and their families are a vital part of the school community, together with staff, governors and parishioners from St Mary’s Church (Marple Bridge) and Holy Spirit Church (Marple). I am delighted to be a part of it – and see it as a great privilege to be leading this vibrant place of learning!
On the following pages you will be able to read our Mission Statement and what we stand for, find out ‘who’s who’ at St Mary’s, discover the latest school news through the link to our weekly Friday Bulletin, gain a view of all that is achieved in our busy school schedule, and learn lots more about St Mary’s.
I hope our website will give you a ‘feel’ for the life and work of the school and for the caring and friendly atmosphere I know you will find here. You are, of course, very welcome to come and look around for yourself, just ring the office to arrange a convenient time.
With very best wishes to all our site visitors,
Mr John Nish
